Jim Dustin's Biography

Visit my design website:
My career in Advertising, Marketing, Information Technology, Digital Design, and Usability Analysis spans over 40 years. Throughout many shifts in my design career, including the rise of desktop publishing and the emergence of the World Wide Web, my wife Linda and I moved from West Palm Beach, Florida, to Orlando in 1989 to join the largest advertising agency in Florida at the time, Robinson, Yesawich & Pepperdine (RY&P).

This eventually brought us to Jacksonville in North Florida, two years later, where I took a management role with AT&T Universal Card (later acquired by Citibank). Meanwhile, Linda became a merchandiser for Hallmark Cards, setting up displays for wrapping paper, ribbons, and greeting card inventories.

As an artist navigating the corporate world for decades, I worked to provide for our small family of two and our cats. In 2010, I was laid off from a large insurance company where I had been employed. I then began freelancing, working on the design of a 400-page book for Walt Hopkins.
This venture provided me with a deep insight into book publishing, even from a distant, downstream production perspective.

Two months after my layoff, my wife received her first diagnosis.
This is my first attempt at a book, which I also plan to turn into an audiobook. I truly appreciate your support.
